The Monkey boot has been around since the 40's with different cuts and uppers designs with the characteristic "lace-to-toe" boot opening construction:an extended laced opening from a minimized and otherwise bulbous toebox up to the the calf with numerous eyelets and strong speed hooks.
It was made for a very specific purpose: to give a high level of safety, durability and good feeling to Linemans doing their job on the top of the pole of the power lines or to Lumberjacks felling trees. Such particular climbing workers preferred a tightly fit around the feet, more closing fitting adjustment and a better feeling, and durable and protecting upper leather design.
Dr. Footers Monkey Boots are available in 2 hight options: a shorter 7 inches boots to the much taller boots up to 12 inches. There are also two style:“straight” and “wave” stitching.

Dr. Footers NewsBoy Cap is a high quality aged peaked Cap, with a vintage look. Unique piece, hand made!
The Dr. Footers News Boy Cap is made with genuine leather using original old military uniform accessories (chin strap, medal, back side buckel and buttons). The peak and the top crown are made with deer leather; the cap is aged in a special vintage look. The rivets securing the chin strap to the sides of the band are in copper or nikel and riveted by hand. Inside a leather band gives a perfect comfortable fitting. Notice the silver medal on the chin strap. Notice the back side original buckle wich gives you wider or narrower adjustment .
The cap size can be adjusted with a buckle on pre-set holes giving you a perfect comfortable fitting: wider or narrower adjustment. Size available: 58 - 62 cm or custom made!

Dr. Footers Lace-To-Toe or Monkey Boots are a classic work-boot design rooted in the 1940s, recognizable by their extended lace-to-toe opening: a minimized, rounded toe that extends up toward the calf with many eyelets and sturdy speed hooks. Dr. Footers uses exclusive upper leather from the top grades of the finest selected tanneries. Rich aniline horse leather (front, hide, double culatta) and genuine shell cordovan.
The tanning process takes a full six months to complete and produces leather, using the ancient recipes of pure vegetable tannage and hand finishing. The leather obtained is soft, supple, and very durable.
Dr. Footers boots take on a unique character when made from vegetable tanned horse leather. They are hand dyed for a deep aniline finish, then stained and polished to the unique Dr. Footers patina.

Every Dr. Footers boot is made with a genuine Goodyear welt construction. A strip of firm top quality leather (the welt) is securely stitched through the flexible upper leather to the leather insole, and then the sole is stitched to this welting.

Although this process can be speed up with the use of sewing machines, hand-sewing results in superior footwear and a unique, hand-made aesthetic, using finest handmade finished leather.
From the cutting and lasting of the leather to the stitching of the welt and sole, every stage is done by hand.
The Goodyearwelt construction are the only kind of shoe that wraps the wearers foot in leather. In this way, the foot is surrounded by leather, resulting in exquisitely comfortable footwear due to the ability of leather to wick moisture away from the skin.
